LLM SEO

What is LLM SEO?

LLM SEO is search engine optimisation directed specifically at large language models and the retrieval systems that feed them.

Who uses the term LLM SEO?

LLM SEO is used by technically inclined practitioners who want to name the system they are optimising for rather than the outcome. It is common among those with a background in information retrieval.

The term is precise about mechanism and vague about goal, which is the reverse of AEO and GEO.

LLM SEO names the system. AEO and GEO name the outcome. AI SEO is the broadest of the four and the least precise.

LLM SEO excludes AI search features that do not involve a language model, which makes it narrower than AI search as a category.

What does AEO GEO LLM Seeding AI SEO - Or Whatever The F$ck You Want to Call It say about LLM SEO?

The book lists LLM SEO among the current crop: now we have AEO, GEO, LLM SEO, AI Search Optimisation, and whatever new acronym someone coins next week to sell a course. It reads the pattern as a rebranding addiction the industry has run before, noting that inbound marketing was content marketing with a funnel diagram, and semantic SEO was SEO that had finally read Google’s own documentation.
