AI SEO

What is AI SEO?

AI SEO is a broad label for search engine optimisation work aimed at AI-powered search systems as well as conventional search results.

Who uses the term AI SEO?

AI SEO is the most commercially common of the competing terms, because it is the one buyers already understand. Agencies use it in service names and paid search campaigns for that reason.

The term is also used, confusingly, to mean using AI tools to perform SEO work. Both senses are in active circulation.

AI SEO is broader than AEO or GEO and covers conventional optimisation alongside AI-specific work. LLM SEO narrows the same idea to large language models specifically.

The double meaning of AI SEO is its main weakness as a term. Optimising for AI systems and using AI to optimise are different activities that share a name.

What does AEO GEO LLM Seeding AI SEO - Or Whatever The F$ck You Want to Call It say about AI SEO?

AI SEO is one of the names in the book’s own title and one it treats as interchangeable with the rest. The book argues the acronym you file the work under decides nothing, while the discipline behind it decides whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews mention your clients or your competitors’ clients.

Read about the book's argument.
